NYPD: Staten Island man found with cache of weapons after calling 911
Police said they're investigating a home on Staten Island Tuesday after a 911 call to the address led them to find a stash of weapons, including grenades.
NYPD officials said first responders were called to a house on Governor Road in Castleton Corners around 5 a.m. Monday to tend to an injured 65-year-old man who was lying on the floor. After taking him to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition, EMS workers found a gun on the bed and alerted police. Officers executed a search warrant and found more guns along with three inert grenades, according to the NYPD. Inert grenades are typically hollowed out of explosive material but still make a loud pop when detonated.
Officials said the man was home alone at the time of the 911 call, and did not immediately say what kinds of injuries he had.Brittany Kriegstein covers all breaking news around New York City, with a focus on crime and gun violence.
