I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.

The weekend is over and now it is time to slack off at work with a new Strands puzzle, this one on the easier side as your brain wakes up.The New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a play on the classic word search. It’s in beta for now, which means it’ll only stick around if enough people play it every day.

There’s a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you’ll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue. You’ll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links two opposite sides of the board. While the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. When you find the spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow.“Some themes are fill-in-the-blank phrases. They may also be steps in a process, items that all belong to the same category, synonyms or homophones,” The New York Times notes.

The NYT has a hint, and I have a hint, and we will see which one helps you out more. First, their hint:So, they clearly wanted to split some modern ones, TWERK and FLOSS with some ‘80s ones, MOONWALK and HUSTLE. I was not born them but I’m pretty sure HUSTLE is the ‘70s right? And PIROUETTE is just like, ballet? Sure.

I didn’t think I’d be able to do this very well given that I don’t really uh, dance, but I got the spangram immediately and that was enough to give me a confidence boost to do the rest. Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
