I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.

The New York Times’ Strands puzzle is a play on the classic word search. It’s in beta for now, which means it’ll only stick around if enough people play it every day.

There’s a new game of Strands to play every day. The game will present you with a six by eight grid of letters. The aim is to find a group of words that have something in common, and you’ll get a clue as to what that theme is. When you find a theme word, it will remain highlighted in blue. You’ll also need to find a special word called a spangram. This tells you what the words have in common. The spangram links two opposite sides of the board. While the theme words will not be a proper name, the spangram can be a proper name. When you find the spangram, it will remain highlighted in yellow.“Some themes are fill-in-the-blank phrases. They may also be steps in a process, items that all belong to the same category, synonyms or homophones,” The New York Times notes.

We will start with the NYT hint and I will make one of my own after that to push you further. The official hint is:This is where answers begin so beware of spoilers if you don’t want to get this far. We will start with the spangram and the full list will come after. The spangram isWell, I have been to two of these, heard of two, and have never heard of one. Have been to GLACIER and REDWOOD, know of BADLANDS and ARCHES, but I definitely had to look up SAGUARO for this puzzle.

It looks pretty enough, but GLACIER park was probably one of my all-time favorite trips. The trees were certainly gorgeous in REDWOOD. I suppose I should put the others on my bucket list.
