A number of customers had their bookings at the Maldron city centre hotel cancelled due to a 'technical error'
An Oasis fan who had his hotel booking cancelled as prices across Manchester skyrocketed has been offered an alternative room - in a youth hostel at £250 for the night.
Josh was one of many disgruntled fans who had booked a stay at the Maldron hotel shortly after the announcement of the tour dates. They were later told they were being sent cancellation requests to accept and that their bookings could not be honoured - despite the same rooms later appearing online at highly inflated prices.
Josh, who made the reservation through site booking.com, has now revealed he was later offered a £250 room at the YHA Manchester, a hostel near Castlefield. The Friday before, their website states that double rooms are priced at £120. At a cost of £159.70 higher than his original booking, he had been offered a double room and private bathroom at the YHA hostel - which he said was not 'like for like' to his initial booking.
A message customers received from Maldron Hotels on Thursday, which again stated a 'technical error' was at fault for the booking issue and that reservations were not being accepted for June, July or August. There was also a pair of neighbouring two-bedroom apartments listed in Crumpsall - one at £994 including fees and one at £1,169 including fees. And a night at a four-bedroom house in Cheetham Hill was listed as being available for £5,000 for the night, plus £876 in fees.
