President Biden and Donald Trump are scheduled to face off at a second and final debate on Sept. 10.
Barack Obama and Bill Clinton tried to help calm the Democratic meltdown following President Joe Biden's debate fumble against Donald Trump.
"Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself,"said in a post on X, linking to Biden's campaign website."Last night didn't change that, and it's why so much is at stake in November.
"As the night went on, I think really kind of rose to the occasion," Biden co-campaign chair Mitch Landrieu told NBC News Thursday night after the debate."I'm proud of the fact that he stood up to Donald Trump." Biden himself followed that framing on Friday during a rally in North Carolina:"Folks, I don't walk as easily as I used to. I don't speak as smoothly as I used to. I don't debate as well as I used to. But I know what I do know: I know how to tell the truth."
