Here's what we saw during open periods of Alabama practice.
UA was missing several players due to the ceremony, but the rest took the field on schedule, preparing for the 2024 season-opener against Western Kentucky. Just as for the first two camp practices, media members were allowed in for several periods.– Reporters were allowed in beginning with the start of the fourth period.
– The Crimson Tide focused on individual and group position drills during the observable periods. Media did not see any scrimmaging.– Alabama players were wearing shoulder pads and helmets for Saturday’s practice. It was the Crimson Tide’s first time in shells after just having helmets for the first two sessions.
– The temperature was 81 degrees during the observable periods. Alabama’s staff worked hard to keep players cool, with an ice bath at the ready just off of the fields and director of sports medicine Jeff Allen appearing to use a portable vacuum cleaner to cool members of the team.
