The Divine Word College (DWC) of San Jose decided to implement a blended modality in learning starting Monday, October 16, to lessen electricity and fuel consumption as the power rate in Occidental Mindoro almost doubled from P12.24 kWh to P20.88 kWh.Dr. Jason Valera, the school's principal, stated in his letter to the parents and students that the school will switch from full face-to-face classes to a blended one.
Valera said the school will have on site classes for three days and distance learning for two days.'With the exorbitant cost of electricity here in the mainland of Occidental Mindoro, the school shall be implementing cost-cutting measures for our electricity and fuel consumption,' Valera said in his letter. 'As citizens of San Jose and nearby municipalities, we are well aware of the steep increase of electricity bills last September.
This had an immense impact on the school since all classrooms are using air conditioned units everyday.'On site classes will be from Monday to Wednesday. Distance learning will be on Thursday to Friday. The first online classes would be on October 19 and 20.'This set-up shall continue until further notice,' the principal said.Valera, meanwhile, assured the parents that the school and its teachers are very much committed to providing quality education to students.
