Oceanside mayor says the city is 100% committed to rebuilding historic pier damaged by fire

As of 6:30 a.m. Friday, Oceanside Fire officials said the fire had been contained to the end of the pier.

12:22 PM PDT April 26, 2024Friday, one day after a devastating blaze erupted at the end of the structure.

Friday firefighters remained at the scene, watering down hot spots. The fire appears to have started in the old Ruby's Diner. So far, investigators have not determined what sparked the fire. The ATF is assisting in the investigation. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1896, then destroyed again 1902. The most recent version opened to the public in 1987.
