The positivity rate of the National Capital Region (NCR) climbed to 5.6%, surpassing the benchmark of the World Health Organization, according to independent monitoring group OCTA Research.

In a Friday tweet OCTA fellow Guido David said the positivity rate of the NCR increased from 3.9% on June 18 to 5.6% on June 22.

The positivity rate refers to the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested. For its part, the Health Department had said that the NCR showed a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases. Despite this, the countryMeanwhile, data also showed that Batangas, Cavite, Iloilo, Laguna, and Rizal have recorded a positivity rate that surpassed the 5% WHO benchmark.

The positivity rate of Batangas rose to 8.3% from 1.2%, Rizal rose to 8.2% from 6.3%, while Laguna rose to 7.1% from 3.2%Meanwhile, the positivity rate of Benguet only rose to 2.7% from 2.2%.
