Updated: Jun. 11, 2024, 11:51 p.m. Ohio Department of Transportation employee Marvin “Marty” Crane died after being struck in a construction zone Friday in Muskingum County.JACKSONTOWN, Ohio — An employee with the Ohio Department of Transportation was killed when he was struck by a construction vehicle in a work zone on a highway in Muskingum County, reports say.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news of the loss of our ODOT team member and friend, Marvin ‘Marty’ Crane. He was tragically killed while performing his duties,” ODOT Director Jack Marchbanks said in a statement. “His death leaves a void among us and reminds us of the fragility and preciousness of life.”
“Marty embodied excellence every day,” ODOT District 5 Deputy Director Jason Sturgeon said in a statement. “His passion for his work was evident in everything he did and his dedication and positive attitude inspired everyone around him. He truly loved his job and approached each task with enthusiasm and integrity.”
