While attempting to establish contact with someone inside the home, one of the hostages was able to climb out of a bedroom window. It was determined that there were 3 female adult hostages and 2 children still inside the home. Around 10:38 a.m. the same morning, the male walked out of the house with the hostages and was taken into custody. Pereira is currently being held at the Thomas County Jail, the investigation is still ongoing.The Georgetown Fire Department later confirmed that Pereira was an off-duty firefighter of the department, and had been employed with them since March of 2017. He was also assigned as a medic for the Central Texas Regional SWAT Team.
