ABC 6 has followed the debate at the statehouse and the protests from families on both sides of this issue.
We spoke with Yost on Monday afternoon. He told ABC 6 that the judge in this case, Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Michael Holbrook overstepped his authority by placing a hold on the bill. "That is blowing up the democratic process," Yost said. "This law was passed by the elected representatives of the people and this one judge is exercising more authority than the governor who actually has a constitutional veto. That can't be the way our system runs or the judges are in charge."They stress decisions about their children's health should not be made by lawmakers, but instead by families.
