Democrats say Yost shouldn't be representing their party's members of the board that approved ballot summary language for a proposed redistricting measure -- language now being challenged in court.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost speaks at an Ohio Statehouse news conference on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio Democratic lawmakers are chastising Republican Attorney General Dave Yost for defending in court the Ohio Ballot Board’s controversial ballot summary to a proposed redistricting reform plan without allowing the board’s two Democrats their own legal counsel or at least input into the case.
Yost, as the state’s top lawyer, is representing the Republican-controlled Ohio Ballot Board in a lawsuit filed by Citizens Not Politicians, the group behind a proposed redistricting constitutional amendment on the ballot this November.
