Pensioners with Octopus Energy can apply for discretionary energy bill credits of £50, £100 and £200.
Octopus Energy has extended a support scheme to include people over State Pension age who are not in receipt of Pension Credit after the UK Government announced it was removing annual Winter Fuel Payments for around 10 million older people across Great Britain from this year. Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced on July 29 the payment, worth between £100 and £300, will only be made to around 1.5 million State Pension ers on means-tested benefits such as Pension Credit.
Responsibility for the Winter Fuel Payment for pensioners in Scotland was due to be transferred to the Scottish Government this year, however, the launch of the Pension Age Winter Payment has now been delayed until 2025/26. The Scottish Government confirmed last month the eligibility rule change will also affect pensioners north of the border.
