Popstar Olivia Rodrigo and singer Conan Gray visited Manchester's Feel Good Club, a mental health and wellbeing cafe, after a concert. The owners recounted the awkward encounter, including the singer not tipping and staff playing her music in the back room.
The owners of a popular venue in the city centre have recalled an ‘awkward’ encounter with popstar Olivia Rodrigo after she came in for a visit. Coffee house Feel Good Club , on Hilton Street in the Northern Quarter, has been run by couple Kiera and Aimie Lawlor-Skillen since 2020. Described as the city's first mental health and wellbeing cafe, the queer-led space also hosts regular events and takeovers.
The space has now garnered such a reputation amongst the city and beyond that the global superstar decided to stop by for a drink there during a recent visit in the city last month. Visiting with American singer Conan Gray, following a performance at the O2 Apollo on November 7 as part of his Between Friends tour, the pair headed to the coffee shop for a matcha following a recommendation from a local resident. In a video on TikTok, owners Keira and Aimie discussed the visit in great detail. “So, Olivia Rodrigo came into the Club and have we got a story for you guys,” Keira begins to explain. “So, Olivia walks in with Conan Grey. She didn't tip but we'll talk about that another time.” Aimie then adds: “Meanwhile, Alicia’s in the back putting her discography on,” as Keira interjects to say: “Puts her song on. How cringe is that?” The pair then discuss how they spoke in the employees' group chat about what they could do to thank Olivia for visiting. Known for selling their own merch in-store, staff decide to gift the singer, known for hits like Driver’s Licence and Vampire, some of their Feel Good Club-branded clothes and accessories. Keira explained: “Aimee’s stalked her for a little bit and watched what shop she went into next, so I said, ‘get a tote bag, get a hoodie and, go on, give it her’.” The pair then outlined that staff member Amie was tasked with giving the gifts to the singer, before returning back to the café not long after with the merch still in her possessio
