Beginning next year, Olmsted Township’s dispatch operations will be moved to the North Olmsted police department.

“This is in the best interest of Olmsted Township and follows the advice of our police chief and fire chief.”Alton said most neighboring communities, including North Olmsted and North Ridgeville, use the statewide MARCS radio system, which the township will be switching to for improved signal quality and interoperability.The township’s current contract with Strongsville police department expiring at the end of the year.
“The new cost with North Olmsted will be $300,000 a year with stable 3 percent annual increases. This decision was made first and foremost with public safety in mind, but the new agreement will provide more long-term cost certainty in a time of high inflation.” During that time, North Olmsted took a proactive approach to regional dispatching by investing in technology and infrastructure upgrades.
