An Emery County man is trying to spread awareness about animal cruelty after he found two cats — one shot and one seemingly stomped on. The cat shot in the head was shot with a .22 caliber bullet, and after surgery, lost its eye. The cat that was stomped on had to be put down. “These aren’t just feral cats, these were somebody’s pets,” said John Murray, the owner of Emery Cat Rescue.The cat that was shot had surgery on Monday and is now recovering after losing its eye.“Not judging, just there. No other human was ever. But they were,” he said.He said he has his work cut out for him.Murray said he’s heard of other cruelty cases in the area, including poisonings.
KUTV reached out to the Emery County Sheriff’s Office to ask about these two cases and any other potential cases in the area, but hasn’t heard back.
