One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a van and truck collided at Bulleen in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs on Monday. Motorists are being asked to avoid the intersection of Bulleen Rd and Manningham Rd where the crash occurred about 5.40am. “The driver of the van, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene,” Victoria Police said. A passenger in the van was also taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Road closures are expected to be in place for the morning as emergency services continue their investigations. “Several lanes are closed through the intersection,” the Department of Transport and Planning Victoria said. “All southbound traffic must turn left towards Doncaster, all northbound traffic on Bulleen Rd must turn left towards Heidelberg, and all westbound traffic on Manningham Rd must turn right towards Templestowe Rd.
