The Ahsoka Disney+ TV show translated many of the animated characters from Star Wars Rebels into live-action for the first time. One of the most prominent was Ezra Bridger, the Jedi Padawan who had disappeared into intergalactic space and who became the subject of Ahsoka and Sabine's quest.
Speaking at the FAN EXPO Philadelphia Ahsoka panel, hosted by Kevin Polowy for ScreenRant, Esfandi revealed one element of Ezra Bridger's design had caused problems. Because Ezra had been stranded on a distant planet for almost a decade, he was supposed to sport an unkempt beard. The problem, though, is that Esfandi had never been able to grow a beard before; as he joked, he "prayed to the Force Gods," and they granted his request.

Eman Esfandi Was The Perfect Ezra Bridger It's a hilarious detail, and it seems perfectly appropriate for Emandi, whose humorous and whimsical manner means many view him as the literal embodiment of Ezra Bridger.
In truth, though, Esfandi would have been the perfect Ezra even if he wasn't able to grow a beard. He captures Ezra's combination of spontaneity and naiveté, and he had a tremendous brother-sister dynamic with Natasha Liu Bordizzo's Sabine Wren. It's now hard to think of anybody else managing to bring Ezra Bridger to life as effectively.
Lucasfilm seem to have recognized this. Although the various strikes meant Esfandi couldn't promote Ahsoka while it was airing, he and his co-stars participated in various humorous promos after the event. These often shone a light on Esfandi's own sense of humor, and the jokes and japes all felt so very Ezra Bridger. While it's a good thing he was able to grow that beard, he'd still be the ideal Ahsoka hero even if he hadn't.
