The local store fought off competition from over 600 locations
A Home Bargains store in Liverpool has received high praise from the company after being declared one of the best in the country. The Speke store came out on top in terms of merchandising, fending off competition from more than 600 other locations and 27,000 staff. The flagship Speke store opened in November 2019 in a 25,000 sq ft space. Home Bargains invested around £5m into the site, marking the first opening in the area.
They were up against over 600 stores and we are delighted for them. 'It’s part of a national annual awards where we celebrate 10 awards for outstanding work from our brilliant colleagues. It’s just a small thank you for all their hard work, we are proud of them all.' Home Bargains began with one store - then called Home and Bargain - which opened in Old Swan in 1976. It was established by a then-21-year-old businessman called Tom Morris, the son of a Scotland Road shopkeeper.
