The Rafah Border crossing into Egypt is currently the only viable route out of the Gaza Strip but is currently closed
Gazans with foreign passports wait at the Rafah Border Gate to cross into Egypt as Israel’s attacks on Gaza continue It is proving “incredibly difficult” to get the Rafah border crossing from Gaza into Egypt opened to allow UK citizens out of the region, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has said.
On Friday, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office told Britons in Gaza to follow Israel’s evacuation order, as the deadline loomed for civilians to leave. “We will keep supporting the British nationals in Gaza and we will keep working with the US, with the Israelis and others to try and bring this crossing into use,” he said.
