Members of the public will be able to access the leisure facilities - previously provided at the flood-hit Bell's Sports Centre - next month
Live Active Leisure has announced the new gym and fitness studios will open at Dewars Centre on Saturday, September 21 at 11am.
The decision to relocate the gym and fitness studios from Bell's Sports Centre to Dewars Centre was taken after the leisure facility on Perth's North Inch suffered up to £2 million of flood damage on October 8, 2023. On May 15, 2024 Perth and Kinross Council agreed to Live Active's request to remove sport and leisure activities from Bell's Sports Centre from August 2024.
Previously, in January 2023 Perth and Kinross councillors voted to ultimately consolidate all three Perth leisure facilities - Bell's Sports Centre, Dewars Centre and Perth Leisure Pool - into one single facility which will be called PH2O. Elected members voted to remove indoor bowling from plans for the new Perth leisure centre. A fully-costed plan for PH2O is due to go before councillors on Monday, September 4.
