Oprah has announced her latest book club pick. Oprah selected a novel named “Long Island” by Irish novelist Colm Tóibín, which centers around an Irish immigrant living in New York’s Long Island. 'It's the 105th selection for Oprah’s Book Club and a sequel to Tóibín's 2009 New York Times bestseller, 'Brooklyn.
“The story is so intriguing in that there is this yearning and longing for the love, or the place, or the being… and there’s conflict and I was torn I wanted one thing to happen and by the end of the book, I wanted something else to happen,” Winfrey said during her interview. Tóibín has written 11 novels, and while 'Long Island' is a sequel, according to Oprah, you don’t have to read Brooklyn to dive into the book.
