Orange Beach city council members are calling Dr. Ryan Forbess 'A hometown hero.”

At Tuesday night’s city council meeting, Dr. Forbess got a standing ovation and a plaque from the city.

He says all the attention has been overwhelming but the greatest gift he’s received is knowing that Lulu is alive and well.Dr. Forbess and Dr. Mohammed Ali didn’t waste a second to help her. “I didn’t even think about vacation mode, I just thought about someone who needed help,” Dr. Forbess said. “We’re doctors that’s what we need to do and so we kind of just went to it.”

During the city council meeting, Dr. Forbess re-told the horrific moments when Lulu was bitten and if she didn’t receive immediate medical attention she may not have made it. “The level of trauma that she had I think that if there wasn’t immediate action I don’t think that she’d be here,” Dr. Forbess said. “But I think it was kind of the grace of God that me and Dr. Ali and the other healthcare people were there.”He says he became emotional after seeing and speaking with her for the first time.“It was really heart-warming. She kind of gave me a hug and told me, I get a little teary-eyed, she said thanks for saving my life. And so you don’t get that every day,” Dr.
