In an interview with The Herald about season 8, Heughan confessed that he has lobbied for a finale that would resonate with the fans who have followed the show over the years. It appears Heughan is striving to influence the way fans bid farewell to their favourite Outlander characters, with the actor adding: "Diana is still writing the 10th book and there is plenty more that we haven't been able to cover.
One fan replied: "It can't be exactly book 9's ending as it has a sort of cliffhanger I think it will be a happy ending, whole family together on the ridge, with the little new addition; William knocking on the door and reconciled with Jamie. Jamie grudgingly reconciled with John as well."
