Streaming service Lionsgate Plus UK shut on February 29 with customers no longer able to access content directly from the app or its website.
Outlander fans will be relieved following the news that the time-travelling drama has found a new home in the UK.
However, on February 29, the company ceased its UK operation leaving fans of the show with no legal way to get their fix, with many left uncertain how they'd access the new upcoming episodes. Later in May, the service will be rebranded to MGM+ to align with the recent rebrand in Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
Speaking about the deal Josh McIvor, global general manager of MGM+ said: “The expansion of MGM+ in the United Kingdom further cements Amazon’s commitment to invest in and grow the MGM+ channel internationally, while enhancing the content offering available to subscribers.” Although no release date is confirmed it is widely believed that the next part of the show will begin to broadcast this month.
Originally played by Laura Donnelly, the role of Jamie's sister, Jenny Murray, will now be portrayed by Kristin Atherton. She is recognised for her work in Waterloo Road and Doctors.
