More than 100,000 people from Greater Manchester have signed a petition for another General Election. The constituency of Leigh and Atherton in Wigan has the most signatories, while Rusholme shows the least interest. With 108,240 signatures from Greater Manchester and around 2.6 million nationally, the petition is primarily from constituencies previously held by Conservatives and Reform.
More than 100,000 people from Greater Manchester constituencies have signed a petition on Parliament's website calling for another General Election . The constituency of Leigh and Atherton in Wigan has the most signatories, with 5,098 names. In contrast, the Manchester constituency of Rusholme, where Labour holds the seat with 1,039 signatories, shows the least interest. Out of the 27 constituencies in Greater Manchester , only two are held by the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
Analysis by the Manchester Evening News reveals that the petition is primarily supported in constituencies that were previously Conservative or Reform. With 108,240 signatures from Greater Manchester and around 2.6 million nationally, any petition with 100,000 signatures must be considered by Parliament. However, given Labour's recent majority win under Sir Keir Starmer, another election is highly unlikely
