Over 3,500 troops will be on No Deal Brexit standby from Monday if EU talks collapse
Sources confirmed the Government’s Operation Yellowhammer would kick in if a new leave date was not agreedUpdated: 21st March 2019,MORE than 3,500 troops will be put on ‘immediate’ No Deal standby from Monday if talks with the EU on a Brexit extension collapse.
Some 3,500 troops will be ready to act within a matter of hours if Government departments need extra tanker drivers, engineers or even military sniffer dogs to help at the airport. Police chiefs are also scheduled to meet to discuss sweeping new powers so Britain is ready for a ‘crash out’ on Friday. The first ‘No Deal’ TV ads – directing Brits to the Government’s official No Deal advice website – aired yesterday.
