Energy provider OVO Energy is stepping up with a new support scheme for state pensioners who will miss out on the automatic £300 Winter Fuel Payment this year. The company is offering direct financial support, including free or subsidized upgrades and reductions in direct debit payments.
OVO Energy has unveiled a £50M support fund to assist state pensioners who are set to lose their £300 Winter Fuel Payment this season.
David Buttress, the Chief Executive, emphasised that it is "on us" to support customers during the colder months. The assistance programme kicks off on October 1, but Ovo's website is already live for customers to determine their eligibility, reports The Express.Yet, Mr Buttress also advocated for a more sustainable approach, suggesting a social tariff, an idea that has been floated by campaign groups for years.
