Mr Paterson, who has previously denounced the “cruel world of politics” for forcing him to quit, maintains that his treatment was unfair.
Mr Paterson is suing the UK Government under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which protects an individual’s right to respect for their private life, family life, home and correspondence. Mr Paterson’s decision to launch legal action through the European court will come as a surprise to many, with the MP repeatedly campaigning to “set the UK free from the ECHR” during his time in Parliament.
