A total of P4,336,400 assistance was released by the Philippine Red Cross to typhoon Odette victims in Negros Occidental on Nov. 11.In an advisory, PRC said that 384 families from the Municipality of Sipalay received emergency shelter kits worth P9,600 each.
“But it doesn’t end here. We continue to help barangays in Negros Occidental by intensifying our Red Cross 143 volunteers, with the goal of building strong communities – with members and leaders who will help and empower each other, especially during disasters,” said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.
He also noted that each community within the country has its strengths and PRC will help them “realize and take ownership of that.” Odette struck the country last December 2021 and since then, PRC said that it has already sent assistance to Southern Leyte, Leyte, Palawan, Negros Oriental, Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City, Bohol, Dinagat Islands, Siargao, Surigao del Norte, and other parts of Negros Occidental.
