BUTUAN CITY – Police seized more than P40 million in illegal drugs in the Caraga region from January 1 to June 30.
Five-hundred eighty-three drug suspects were arrested, Police Regional Office-13 Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said on Thursday, July 4.
The PRO 13-Regional Operations Division said 190 suspects were high-value individuals and 393 were street-level individuals.Confiscated in 530 anti-illegal drug operations were 3,889.106 grams of shabu, 79.375 grams of marijuana, 2,750 grams of cocaine, and three tablets of ecstasy worth a total of P42.4 million.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro said the Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office seized P12.8 million in illegal drugs, followed by the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit with P11.9 million, Surigao del Norte PPO, P9.5 million; Butuan City Police Office , P5.5 million; Agusan del Norte PPO, P1.3 million; Agusan del Sur PPO, P1.1 million; Dinagat Islands PPO, P32,546, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Regional Field Unit 13, P3,400.
Nazarro credited these achievements to the unified and coordinated effort of all law enforcement agencies and the community. “These exemplary achievements also highlight the collective efforts of PNP-Caraga, in partnership with other law enforcement agencies and the people, in our shared mission to eradicate the illegal drug trade in the region.”
