Corral pointed out that deciding to give P40 as a wage increase is also a way of saying that households must disregard minimum monetary standards set by the Department of Science and Technology to achieve healthy food requirements daily.
“Giving a paltry 40 pesos increase is akin to saying that the daily minimum wage should not be based on the Department of Science and Technology’s Pinggang Pinoy daily healthy food requirements for a family of five, which as per computation, amounts to P917.50,” he said. “This shared myopic perspective of both the DOLE and employer of the concept of the daily minimum wage as a safety net, should be revised and reformed.
