Turkey hunters may see planes spraying the forests this spring. Here's why.

The Pa. Game Commission announced Monday that it is taking to the air in an attempt to get control of the spongy moth population.

Per a release by the commission, 123,000 acres of state game land will be sprayed as they try to get rid of the moth. The commission said spraying from the air will begin as soon as leaf-out occurs and the spongy moth eggs hatch.Spring is here and snakes are soon to follow. Pa.

The commission did says that there will be no spraying on the first morning of youth turkey season — April 27 — or the first day of the spring turkey season on Saturday, May 4. The commission said it will be using Mimic 2LV o spray the forests, and that it is “generally considered safe to humans.” “Most negative side effects happen with long-term exposure to high concentrations of the product,” it said in a statement. “As with any chemical, it may cause eye or skin irritation if exposed, and it is recommended to wash any affected area if irritation occurs.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
