Indiana University of Pennsylvania trustees this week received its largest contribution to date toward funding its proposed college of osteopathic medicine.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is nearly a quarter of the way toward raising the $103 million to fund its proposed medical school with the largest contribution to date landing this week. “We firmly believe that this project will move the university forward and solidify IUP’s position as one of the leading institutions of higher education in Pennsylvania,” said foundation board President Regina Stover.

“This is very promising news, and we continue to appreciate Congressman Reschenthaler and Senator Fetterman’s ongoing support for IUP’s proposed college of osteopathic medicine,” said university President Michael Driscoll in a statement. “IUP is very fortunate to have legislators who recognize the importance of this project for the commonwealth and beyond and are true champions for the project and for IUP.

“IUP takes its responsibility to serve the commonwealth as a change agent very seriously, and we are ready to help to address the critical shortage of physicians in Pennsylvania through the establishment of the first college of osteopathic medicine at a public university in the state,” Driscoll said.
