Padres stumble again despite getting good pitching against a bad team; a trade for a pitcher still seems likely, but not easy
Good morning from Anaheim, Last night went so well. And so poorly. The Padres got a magnificent MLB debut from Adam Mazur. As Mike Shildt said in my game story , “You can’t ask for much more” than the six innings of one-run ball Mazur provided. But the Padres lost a second consecutive game to one of the major leagues’ most dreadful teams. Now, as the Rockies did when sweeping the Padres last month, the Angels are playing decent baseball. As Shildt is fond of saying, however, let’s not alibi it.
Neal ElAttrache and received confirmation of the diagnosis of triceps tendinitis and the remedy of rest. Musgrove, who was on the IL for 20 days in May with the issue before returning to make two starts, went back on the IL Saturday. He is expected to miss at least a month, as he is shut down for at least a couple weeks before building back up.
