Dylan Cease goes 6 innings, Jurickson Profar drives in 3 runs; Padres get to within a game of .500 after winning two of three against Chicago
The Padres got another quality start, hit balls all over Petco Park and secured their first series win of the season with a 10-2 victory over the Cubs on Wednesday. It was one of those days, as opposed to the other kind that they have mixed in early this season in which their starting pitcher has put them in an early hole and/or their offense has gone long stretches without doing much.
Profar scored on Campusano’s 69.9 mph single to left field before Kim stole third base and scored on Jackson Merrill’s 73 mph groundout to the right side. It appeared the Padres would take their lead to the bottom of the fourth when Christopher Morel hit a two-out grounder directly at Kim. But the ball went in and out of Kim’s glove. It was the third error in four games by the player who won the National League Gold Glove as a utility player last season.
