San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria announced that a street near the stadium will soon be renamed 'Peter Seidler Way.'
Early last June, as the were sputtering below .500 and the were visiting Petco Park, Peter Seidler proposed an idea for changing up the energy in the building. Soon, the Padres chairman, general manager A.J. Preller and assistant general manager Josh Stein gathered down the right-field line and, with the help of traveling secretary TJ Lasita, burned a packet of incense. They carried it to the mound, then to home plate, where they were joined by Seidler’s wife, Sheel. They took off their shoes.
” Sixteen other speakers, including Padres players and , Hall of Fame closer Trevor Hoffman and two of Seidler’s nine siblings, took a stage set up in right field to honor and remember the owner and humanitarian who took a unique approach to running the Padres and interacting with the city of San Diego.
