Padres infielder Luis Arraez collected two hits Friday to move back into MLB lead with a .329 batting average

Arraez, however, has been enduring his coolest month of the season as his OPS has dropped from a .875 in May to .579 through the first 12 games of June.
Arraez has hits in nine of 12 games played this month and has two hits in five games this month. What’s hurt his cause, however, is an 0-for-4 in the first game he played after jamming his shoulder/neck in Kansas City and back-to-back 0-for-5s from Sunday to Monday.Before the injury, Arraez was hitting .393/.416/.458 through his first 25 games as a Padre .
Arraez is hitting .282/.333/.308 so far this year against left-handers, which he’ll face as the leadoff hitter and first baseman on Saturday against the Mets.The 21-year-old Merrill drove in the Padres’ lone run on Friday via his sixth homer of the season and his third in the past two games.Higashioka has struck out in his last three plate appearances over two games but has four homers in 21 plate appearances this month .

Through nine innings, Mazur has struck out four and walked nine. In the minors, he averaged 1.6 walks per nine innings.The 35-year-old Colombian has been better at home than he has been on the road . He’s also allowing an .805 OPS against righties and a .830 OPS against lefties.
