Padres have won seven straight, are 7-1 on trip that ends Sunday with game against Orioles; Randy Vasquez faces Albert Suarez
BALTIMORE — The Padres are one victory from completing their most successful road trip in team history.
They enter the contest having won a season-high seven consecutive games since losing 7-0 in Cleveland on the first game of the trip. Vasquez shut out the Orioles on three hits over five innings in his only appearance against them as a rookie last season while with the Yankees.Orioles starter Albert Suarez is the brother of Padres closer Robert Suarez. The faced each other once before, in Japan in 2021. Robert Suarez got the save in that game for the Hanshin Tigers.
The Padres, at 57-50, are a season-high seven games above .500 after coming out of the All-Star break a game over. They haveare 31-22 away from Petco Park. They are 26-28 in San Diego, where they will play the Dodgers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
