Yu Darvish is rolling into Saturday’s 4:15 p.m. start in Atlanta. The 37-year-old veteran has not allowed a run in his last 18 innings, tying a career-high, and is seeking his 200th career win between both his time in Japan and the majors. Only Hiroki Kuroda and Hideo Nomo have more. Darvish draws the start against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder after the Padres came from behind to steal a win on Friday behind No. 5 starter Matt Waldron. Now they turn the guy pitching like a No. 1.
Here is how Darvish has fared against current Braves, including quite a bit of slug allowed to Saturday’s DH in Marcell Ozuna: The lineup behind Darvish will see the Padres stick with a new-look top-seven in which third baseman Manny Machado is again batting fifth behind second baseman Luis Arraez, right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr., left fielder Jurickson Profar and first baseman Jake Cronenworth. With Arraez in the field, Xander Bogaerts will serve as the DH and bat sixth.
