Oklahoma prep left-hander Kash Mayfield selected 25th overall by the Padres

Abrams and pieces that helped complete trades for Juan Soto and Luis Arraez over the last couple of years. An Oklahoma State recruit who was named Oklahoma’s high school player of the year as a junior, Mayfield was ranked as the 30th-best prospect in the draft by MLB.com.“After working with an upper-80s fastball last spring, Mayfield is dealing at 92-95 mph and reaching 97 with armside run and carry. He already possesses an advanced changeup that parks in the low 80s and drops at the plate, making his heater even more effective.
