PAEDOPHILE football coach Barry Bennell was awarded £89,348 of taxpayers’ cash as he tried to evade justice and sue prison staff.

The legal aid cheques began 20 years ago and include £4,880 for a clinical negligence claim during a previous prison term in 2005.Barry Bennell spent £77,789 trying to avoid justice for abusing junior players from Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra between 1979 and 1990He was convicted of 43 historical offences against youngsters training at Manchester City and Crewe Alexandra, and jailed for 30 years.
