Tropical Depression Amang is expected to weaken into a low pressure area within 12 hours as it moves towards Polillo Islands and northern mainland Quezon, the state weather bureau said Thursday.
In its 8 a.m. update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Amang was last spotted over the coastal waters of Jomalig, Quezon and it continues to move west northwestward with sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
Amang first hit land in Panganiban, Catanduanes then in Presentacion, Camarines Sur. It made another landfall in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Signal No. 1 is raised over the northern and western portions of Camarines Norte, the southern portion of Aurora, and the northern and eastern portions of Quezon, including Pollilo Islands"Under these conditions, isolated flashfloods and rain-induced landslides remains possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards," PAGASA said.
