A man, aged 31, and a 45-year-old woman are in custody
A man, aged 31, and a 45-year-old woman were detained after a 29-year-old man suffered a leg injury in the Gortgonis Road area ofsaid it received a 999 call at 23:03 on Tuesday, June 2, following reports of an incident in the Annaghilla Road area, Augher.
A spokesperson added: "NIAS dispatched one Emergency Ambulance to the scene. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one person was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance.
"Torrent Cllr Malachy Quinn said: "I have been in contact with the PSNI following the serious stabbing incident in Coalisland. I understand arrests have been made and a police investigation is now underway. This is an isolated incident.
"I also want to echo the appeal from police. Nobody should be carrying weapons. There is absolutely no place for knives or other weapons on our streets, and incidents such as this highlight the devastating consequences that can follow.
"Anyone with information that may assist the investigation should contact the PSNI directly. "
