Christopher Burgess appeared in the town's sheriff court from custody and was given a prison sentence.
A Paisley thug who threatened to stab cops after he’d been asked to leave his friend’s house due to being too drunk has been jailed.And when officers arrested Burgess, of High Calside, he threatened to stab them, spat in the police van and made a sectarian remark.
“Police attended due to the disturbance and traced the accused nearby who they noted to be heavily intoxicated. He was arrested and, while in a police van en route to Greenock police station, he stated to officers he was going to stab them stating, ‘youse are dead’. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages.
Defence agent Rhona Lynch stated: “He was on bail for this matter but was remanded last week regarding a petition matter. He may be in custody for some time. Sheriff Bruce Erroch KC, jailing Burgess for 110 days, said: “This was a serious offence of public disorder, you were on bail at the time and there’s a hate crime aggravation. You were also subject to alcohol at the time but I take into account everything that’s been said on your behalf.”
