Seven years after the death of her best friend Natalie Cormack, who fell from a balcony in Magaluf, Erin Montgomery has renewed her campaign 'Don't leave a friend behind' to warn young people about the dangers of alcohol and balconies while on holiday. The campaign was started after Natalie's death in 2018 and again after two more young men died in similar falls in the same complex that summer. The tragic death of Scots law student Emma Ramsay in Ibiza last August spurred Erin to continue raising awareness. She stresses the importance of never leaving friends alone at night and urges young people to be aware of the risks associated with alcohol and balconies.
The best friend of a teenager who died after plunging from a balcony in Magaluf has issued a stark warning to young Scots.
In the wake of her death, pal Erin Montgomery started the "Don't leave a friend behind" campaign in a bid to raise awareness about balcony falls and young people drinking too much alcohol on holiday. "Young people think they are invincible but I want to get this message out there to as many of them as possible this year and try to stop someone else being killed.
Erin explained the "Don't leave a friend behind" campaign was formed after a group of Natalie's friends came together to raise money to bring her body home from Spain. However, after another two young men died in similar falls in the same complex that summer, they decided to start raising awareness to try and prevent further tragedies from happening.
