President Rodrigo Duterte is now out of danger and far from getting the deadly COVID-19 virus after his doctors gave the Chief Executive a clean bill of health, Malacañang said Friday.

Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles said that the President is healthy for his age despite his recent exposure to a COVID-positive staff.

“President Duterte is okay and is as healthy as any healthy individual at his age would be,” he said.He got tested the next day, Jan. 31, which turned out to be negative. He said that Duterte went to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan for his “routine medical check-up.” “So upon assessment of the President’s physician, the considered date of last exposure of the President to a positive COVID case was Friday, January 28, 2022. While there is one household staff who tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, January 30, 2022, upon the physician’s assessment, this is not considered as an exposure of the President per se because he is not a close contact as per the circumstances,” Nograles said.
