US diplomacy reaches its limits as conflict threatens to spread in region

Mr Abbas’s comments came as he met America’s top diplomat Antony Blinken on Sunday in the West Bank. The Palestinian leader said his government was ready to accept full responsibility for the entire area of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem as part of a comprehensive diplomatic solution., which took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007, but long-term plans for leadership in the region remain unclear.

But the meeting between the two in Ramallah, appeared tense. And Mr Abbas declared: “Once again, we meet in the harshest conditions possible, I have no words to describe the war of genocide and the destruction suffered by our Palestinian people in Gaza at the hands of the military apparatus of Israel, without any respect for the principles of international law.”and beyond.
