Cell culture

Human tumor cell lines were obtained from ATCC or were provided by J. J. Molenaar . The identity of all cell lines was verified by short tandem repeat genotyping ; absence ofspp. contamination was determined with a Lonza MycoAlert Detection System. Cell lines were cultured in Roswell Park Memorial Institute 1640 medium supplemented with 1% penicillin, streptomycin and 10% FCS. To assess the number of viable cells, cells were trypsinized , resuspended in medium and sedimented at 500 g for 5 min.
